Wine Snob |
Tuesday, August 30, 2005 |
Not me. My friend. He's a wine snob. "I really don't drink cheap wine" he once told me. I'm trying to convince him that there are plenty of wines under $15 worth drinking. If it doesn't cost more than $30 and gets at least 98 points, the wine is not worth it to him. I admit, some of the best wines I've had cost more than $30; however, since wine production is so good nowadays, there are plenty of inexpensive great wines available to the general public. Here are a few from which to choose:
Bodegas Terrazas de los Andes Malbec Mendoza Reserva 2002 $15 91pts
Glen Carlou Chardonnay Paarl 2002 $14 91pts
Chateau Souverain Chardonnay Sonoma County 2002 $14 91pts
Columbia Crest Merlot Columbia Valley Grand Estates 2001 $11 90pts
Sebastiani Chardonnay Sonoma County Appellation Selection 2001 $13 90pts
Bodegas Palacio Rioja Cosme Palacio y Hermanos 2001 $12 90pts
Waterbrook Mélange Columbia Valley 2003 $13 90pts
Villa Mt. Eden Chardonnay Santa Maria Valley Bien Nacido Vineyard Grand Reserve 2001 $13 90pts
La Valentina Montepulciano d’Abruzzo 2002 $12 90pts
Inama Soave Classico 2002 $13 90pts
Rosemount Chardonnay Hunter Valley Show Reserve 2002 $15 90pts
Cusumano Insolia-Chardonnay Sicilia Angimbé 2002 $13 90pts
Peter Lehmann Shiraz Barossa 2002 $15 90pts
Georges Duboeuf Moulin-à-Vent Domaine des Rosiers 2003 $14 90pts
If you have any recommendations on wines (especially red wines) under $15, please let me know. Thank you. |

I like Louis Jadot Beaujouleis (spelling)? It's about $12.
